Bayer Leverkusen have responded to Arsenal’s reported interest in Jarell Quansah this summer, according to journalist Lewis Bower.
Arsenal registered their interest in Quansah last week as Mikel Arteta continues to search for defensive reinforcements. William Saliba and Jurrien Timber have both been sidelined, increasing the need for additional cover at the back.

Saliba is working his way back from a back injury that flared up at the World Cup, while Timber continues to deal with a persistent groin problem.
Quansah, 23, joined Leverkusen from Liverpool last summer in a deal worth an initial £30 million, with the fee potentially rising to £35m through add-ons. He has four years remaining on his contract with the German club.
According to Bower, Leverkusen have made their position clear to Arsenal, telling the Gunners that Quansah is not for sale at any price.
Bower posted on X: “Received an update today in relation to Jarell Quansah. As things stand Bayer Leverkusen consider him not for sale at any price and have informed #AFC this.”
The stance means Arsenal would be unable to negotiate a straightforward deal for the England international unless the Bundesliga club change their position.
Quansah made 44 appearances during his first season at the BayArena and was included in England’s World Cup squad this summer. His performances have strengthened his status as one of Erik ten Hag’s important defensive options.
Liverpool also included a buy-back mechanism in the agreement when Jarell Quansah left Anfield.
Reports have suggested the clause could be worth around €80m if triggered this year, falling to approximately €60m from July 2027, although there is disagreement over whether the option remains active.
Liverpool have not moved to activate the clause, with reports that the club retain first refusal should Leverkusen eventually decide to sell. However, Liverpool are not currently believed to be planning a move for their former defender.
Arsenal’s interest in Quansah has emerged alongside their pursuit of Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa.
