Liverpool are half-way to completing their double swoop for Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye, reaching an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain for the latter. It's been a largely slow summer for the Reds, as they look to settle into a new life under Andoni Iraola.
Having waved goodbye to Mohamed Salah, Ibrahima Konate and Andy Robertson as free agents, Liverpool have welcomed Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Munoz on permanent deals, as well as Ronald Araujo from Barcelona on a season-long loan. With core replacements for outgoing talents now secured, the club have turned their attention to other areas of the pitch.
Barcola has been linked with a move to Anfield for the majority of the summer, despite PSG's intentions to retain the 23-year-old for the season ahead. A £145million price tag was slapped on the Frenchman as a result, although that figure is thought to now sit in the region of around £120m due to the acquisition of Maghnes Akliouche and Mika Godts.
And while Mbaye has emerged as a relatively new target, the Reds have already seen a wealth of success in their pursuit. As per Fabrice Hawkins, Liverpool have reached an agreement with the 18-year-old forward on financial terms and a five-year deal.
While Bayer Leverkusen are also thought to hold an interest in Mbaye, the player is no longer looking to engage in interest with the Bundesliga challengers following Liverpool's advances.
It is understood that the Reds will now try to work out a figure with PSG to sign both men ahead of next month's transfer deadline. As per TEAMtalk, Mbaye is expected to fetch a sum of between £30m and £45m.
Add that to the £120m PSG are expected to demand for Barcola, and Liverpool could end up forking out around £165m on the duo, although Les Parisiens could shave a little off that price as a result of a package deal.
