It has been a summer of change for Tottenham Hotspur as six new players have been brought in. A few key stars such as Cristian Romero, Djed Spence, Radu Dragusin and Guglielmo Vicario have departed as part of the squad overhaul under head coach Roberto De Zerbi.
There are a few more players whose futures at White Hart Lane are up in the air. Richarlison is one of them. The versatile forward has been linked with a return to Everton. Recent reports suggest Everton formally made contact with Spurs in the last 48 hours to explore a potential move for the Brazilian international.
Rumours circulating on social media has indicated that the Toffees have gone as far as bidding for Richarlison. A bid is understood to have been rejected for not meeting Spurs’ valuation.
Alasdair Gold pours cold water on Everton links with Richarlison
Now, reliable Football London journalist Alasdair Gold has given us an update on Richarlison’s links with Everton. He claims that no bid has been tabled by Everton for the Tottenham forward. The Merseysiders, though, have been interested in a reunion with the 29-year-old, with it said that they did enquire earlier in the summer about a move. No contact has since been made for the Brazilian star, shutting down rumours across social media.
This means Richarlison returning to Everton are currently nothing more than rumours. Many feel that the player will be out of contract at Tottenham in June 2027 and it could lead to a cut-price deal this summer. However, Gold has added that Spurs have a clause in Richarlison’s contract where they can choose to extend his stay a further year until June 2028.

This gives the North Londoners the flexibility to either demand a cut-price fee if they decide to sell him this summer, or maintain his value in the transfer market. As things stand, Richarlison is almost nailed-on to lead the Tottenham attack vs. Brentford in the weekend’s season opener.
Should the Lilywhites manage to bring in a No.9, we could see Richarlison leave. If he wants to stay and fight for his place, then that will be a different scenario. However, considering the club are not close to signing a new striker anytime soon, the chances of the Brazilian staying in N17 are very high.
