Todd Boehly and Mark Walter are in talks to sell their stakes in Chelsea to majority owner Clearlake Capital, according to reports.
American billionaire businessmen Boehly and Walter were two of the investors who partnered with Clearlake to buy the west London club from Roman Abramovich in a sale mandated by the United Kingdom government in May 2022.
Private equity company Clearlake currently owns 61.5% of the club, with Boehly and Walter carving up the remaining shares with another investor, Hansjorg Wyss.
Chelsea chairman Boehly in particular has reportedly been dissatisfied with the direction of the club recently, notably regarding recruitment, head coaches and a potential new stadium plan.
The move by Boehly and Walter was first reported in the Financial Times. A subsequent article in the Telegraph suggested the duo believe the club is worth £5 billion.
The Press Association has contacted Chelsea for comment.
