Liverpool have reached an agreement with Ibrahim Mbaye as they look to snap up the forward and his Paris Saint-Germain team-mate, Bradley Barcola. It's been a largely quiet transfer window for the Reds, as Andoni Iraola looks to make a difference in 2026/27.
Mohamed Salah, Ibrahima Konate and Andy Robertson have each left the club as free agents, with Liverpool bringing in Jeremy Jacquet, Victor Munoz and Ronald Araujo as replacements. And with suitable successors in the bag - albeit, Araujo only on a season-long loan - Liverpool are now targeting other areas of the pitch.
Barcola has been linked with a move to Merseyside for the duration of the summer. PSG, meanwhile, are reluctant to let the 23-year-old winger leave, initially slapping a price tag of around £145million on him to deter any potential suitors.
Having since snagged Maghnes Akliouche and Mika Godts, however, it is understood that Les Parisiens have since lowered their valuation of Barcola to around £120m.
And while Mbaye has emerged as a comparatively fresh target, the Reds have already enjoyed significant progress in their chase.
According to Fabrice Hawkins, Liverpool have reached an agreement with the 18-year-old forward on financial terms and a five-year contract.
While Bayer Leverkusen are also understood to hold an interest in Mbaye, the youngster is no longer looking to entertain interest from the Bundesliga contenders following Liverpool's overtures.

It is understood that the Reds will now attempt to negotiate a fee with PSG to secure both players before next month's transfer deadline. According to TEAMtalk, Mbaye is expected to command a price of between £30m and £45m.
Combined with the £120m PSG are projected to request for Barcola, Liverpool could find themselves spending around £165m on the pair, though the Ligue 1 giants might reduce that figure slightly as part of a combined arrangement.
This development comes as additional exits could be arranged before next month's transfer deadline. Cody Gakpo's future at Anfield has been a subject of discussion as of recent, with widespread belief suggesting he will leave the club.

While he only put pen to paper on a fresh contract with the Reds last year which ought to keep him at the club until 2030, the 27-year-old has been tipped with a switch to Tottenham Hotspur.
Personal terms between the player and the Lilywhites are believed to have been settled, with negotiations now taking place regarding a transfer fee for the Netherlands international.
It is also suggested that Spurs may need to pay as much as £70m for Gakpo, should Roberto De Zerbi be keen on working with him in 2026/27. Curtis Jones, meanwhile, could also be on the move to Inter Milan ahead of the new season, but only if the Serie A mainstays are able to meet the Reds' £34m valuation, despite the Englishman having less than a year left on his current contract.
