In case you missed it, Chicago Bears running back Kyle Monangai injured his knee in practice yesterday, and earlier today, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler shared an update on social media, calling it a hyperextension.
He added that Monangai is “Expected to miss multiple weeks, but per the MRI, the outcome is considered positive.”
The most positive aspect is that it appears no surgery is needed, but multiple weeks could take us up to Week 1, which is 27 days away.
The Bears announced two signings today with defensive end Marcus Davenport (more on him here) and cornerback Deantre Prince, who was part of a big defensive back tryout at Halas Hall last week.
Prince (6’, 183) entered the NFL as a fifth-round pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2024, and he played in 10 games for them as a rookie. The Jaguars waived him before the 2025 season.
To make room for the two new Bears, they waived UDFA running back Coleman Bennett and waived tight end Nikola Kalinic with an injury designation.
Earlier today, the Chicago Tribune’s Brad Biggs reported in his article about Davenport that the Bears expect defensive end Shemar Turner to remain on the PUP list for the regular season, which would mean he’d miss at least the first 6 weeks of the season.
