2026 NFL Draft Pick, Star Wide Receiver, Suffers Brutal Injury
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garofolo reported on Monday that Saints rookie wide receiver Jordyn Tyson could miss the next two months with a hamstring injury.
Tyson, 22, was injured during the Saints’ joint practice with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday. New Orleans opens the season against the Detroit Lions on Sept. 13. In two months’ time, New Orleans would be getting ready to take on the New York Giants in Week 6. After that game, the Saints will travel to Paris for a week.
In his Friday press conference, Saints coach Kellen Moore said it could potentially affect the regular season, but refused to pinpoint an exact return. Tyson suffered an injury after landing awkwardly while catching a pass. After testing his leg with trainers, he jogged off the field.
“I think my understanding of this one, any player that was put in his situation where your foot slips and you get shoved from behind, this has nothing to do with Jordyn’s history,” Moore said. “Any player in that situation probably has the same diagnosis coming out of this.”

Although the Saints were cautious with the No. 8 draft pick in rookie, OTA and veteran minicamps, Tyson practiced fully every day in training camp before he was injured.
“Jordyn’s had a great camp. He’s played really good football. Inevitably, this is the unfortunate part of what preseason and training camp football is,” Moore said. “We’ve already had a few of these guys, that you just have something that comes up and … we’ll just work through it.
“Jordan’s done a great job, and he’ll continue to do a great job. He’ll be fine. We’ll get through this, and he’ll be good to go.”
The Saints will practice with the Cowboys and Rams in California on Monday, but Moore said Friday he didn’t know whether Tyson would travel.
“We’ll have some guys who, if they aren’t going to be a part of any of the work in California, a lot of those guys will stay here just so they can stay in this situation, get plenty of work at our facility,” Moore said.
