We have finally heard from Everton manager David Moyes this summer in a formal interview setting but I think I understand why it has taken so long.

I remember when Moyes first came back to Everton and there were interviews over what he would like to bring to the table and who he would like to bring in. Pre-seasons are full of transfer talks and he’s probably sick of it.

I think he doesn’t want to be trapped. He knows he will be asked about the right-back situation and certain players and he won’t want to play his cards first.

Maybe he and the club have decided to keep their cards close to their chest and don’t want to be going out there, saying we need x, y and z because it might put an extra zero on a transfer fee or the wages because it looks like we’re desperate.

Also, when it comes to players potentially being sold, he might not want to talk about them not getting their minutes as that might hamper us from demanding a good fee.

There will be a reason and while we would like to have seen Moyes come out more and approach the fans or the owner to come over, I feel that will happen again in more detail as soon as the transfer window closes.

Then, they might comment on the challenges of the transfer window, what the strategy has been and what they are trying to achieve.

While the window is open, I think the manager doesn’t want to give the game away too much. It’s like a game of chess, but with the season about to start, we have now heard his some of his thoughts, but even with that, he has not given much away.
