Liam Delap’s future just became even more complicated after a bizarre request to Como.
Liam Delap’s situation at Stamford Bridge is developing rapidly. Despite wanting to stay and fight for his place after a tough debut year, Chelsea have made it clear he can leave this summer.
He barely featured during pre-season friendlies and was completely left out of the squad for the final tune-up against Real Sociedad.
With Xabi Alonso favoring Joao Pedro and other attacking options, Delap’s minutes look practically non-existent. A move away is now firmly on the cards, with Everton, Newcastle, Nottingham Forest and Tottenham all showing keen interest in bringing the English striker in before the deadline.

Como abandon plans to sign Liam Delap
Serie A side Como have registered an interest in signing Liam Delap on loan this summer, but it looks as if their pursuit will be short lived, as Chelsea have ruined any kind of hopes of a deal.
According to Fabrizio Romano on his YouTube channel, Cesc Fabregas‘ Como have walked away from a deal for Delap, and instead are chasing former Everton striker Moise Kean.
This is down to the fact that Chelsea requested €10m (£8.5m) from Como just for the loan.
Chelsea needs to lower their valuations
Chelsea asking for an £8.5 million loan fee for Liam Delap is absolute madness. For a player who was effectively frozen out during pre-season, barely sniffed the pitch under Xabi Alonso, and got left out of the squad entirely against Real Sociedad, demanding that kind of cash upfront is ridiculous.
Any club taking him on is already covering a fat chunk of his wages, only to be slapped with an £8.5 million bill for a temporary fix with no long-term guarantee.
During the 2025/26 season at Chelsea, Liam Delap made 41 total appearances (16 starts) across all competitions, netting two goals and registering five assists.
