NY Jets Injury Updates

Geno Smith

NFL New York Jets Training Camp - JetNation.com - New York Jets Blog & Forum

The New York Jets received several encouraging injury updates during Monday’s practice, with quarterback Geno Smith participating despite dealing with an ankle injury. Smith was on the field and appeared to be moving well during the portion of practice open to the media. He missed the preseason opener at MetLife Stadium on Friday night. This is a positive sign for the Jets as they continue through the preseason. Here is the early week edition of the NY Jets injury report.

The Jets also welcomed back two defensive linemen. Joseph Ossai, who had been on the PUP list, and T’Vondre Sweat, who had been on the NFI list, were both back in action and participated in team drills.

There were still a couple of players working off to the side. Cornerback D’Angelo Ponds was in the rehab area as he works through a calf injury. Defensive back Mory Bamba was also working in the rehab area and had a brace on his right knee. Bad news on Bamba, Aaron Glenn said they expect him to miss several weeks. That is disappointing after the strong performance he had against the Bucs.

Demario Davis and Minkah Fitzpatrick were among the players not participating during the early portion of practice. Veteran rest days was the reason Aaron Glenn provided.

Kenyon Sadiq is with the team on the field as he inches closer to returning to action.

Meanwhile Garrett Wilson missed practice because he threw up upon arriving at the practice facility.

The biggest development is Smith being able to practice and move around on the injured ankle. The Jets will continue to monitor his status as they move closer to the regular season.
