Jack Grealish was at Cardiff City’s game against Wrexham to watch former Aston Villa teammate and good friend Callum Robinson.
A fan account filmed him as he was leaving his seat at the end of the game and asked if he was there for “a permanent deal or just a loan move” — the joke being Cardiff, not Everton.
Grealish played along: “Not sure yet!”
It’s the kind of joke that writes itself, even aimed at the ‘wrong’ club as far as Evertonians are concerned.
Grealish’s real situation is unclear and his move to Everton that seemed almost certain at the end of last season is now anything but.
The Toffees still hold a £50m option to buy at the end of the season.
A stress fracture suffered against Villa in January cut short what had been a strong first half of the campaign. Everton are still expected to pursue a permanent deal, reportedly at a reduced fee given his age and recent injury record.
Cardiff, for what it’s worth, drew 1-1, with Rubin Colwill scoring a stoppage-time equaliser to rescue a point.
