Mikel Arteta has reassured Arsenal supporters over his future at the club after effectively confirming that he intends to sign a new contract at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners boss has entered the final 12 months of his current agreement, prompting some concern among supporters despite Arsenal’s desire to secure his long-term future. However, Arteta has made it clear that there is no reason for fans to worry, insisting that he remains extremely happy in north London.
Arteta said he wants to remain with Arsenal and indicated that the outstanding contractual issues will eventually be resolved, with both himself and the club comfortable with the current situation.
The Spaniard’s existing deal, signed in 2024, runs until the end of the 2026-27 season. Arsenal had been expected to begin discussions over another extension following the club’s remarkable 2025-26 campaign, when Arteta finally ended their 22-year wait for the Premier League title.
That achievement has strengthened Arteta’s position at the Emirates and ARSENAL are understood to be keen to reward him with a significant improvement to his current £10million-a-year salary
Arteta said: “The fans don’t have to worry about any of that, because I want to be here. I am extremely happy. I feel very grateful to work with the people that I work with and when we have the possibility, we will resolve that. And that’s it.
“There is always another priority! That’s the way we have been treating it because everybody feels comfortable that the time on the contract is not going to be an issue.
“My will, certainly, is to be here and I am very happy here. My feeling from the club’s the same. That’s why everyone is doing things in a really organic way.”
The timing is particularly significant given the club’s ambitions. Arsenal are attempting to build on their title-winning season and have also strengthened their squad as they look to compete on multiple fronts.
Arteta’s continued presence is likely to be viewed as a crucial part of that strategy. The manager has developed a strong relationship with ARSENAL‘s hierarchy and has played a central role in reshaping the squad and culture at the club.
His comments should therefore provide considerable relief to supporters who had become concerned about the possibility of his contract situation becoming a distraction.
