Liverpool continue talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a deal for Bradley Barcola, with widespread sources expecting a new bid for the winger this week.
Barcola was left out of PSG’s squad for their 2-1 loss to Lens in the Trophee des Champions on Sunday along with fellow winger Ibrahim Mbaye.
Their absence comes with both players expected to leave and it possible that they both end up at Anfield.
While Liverpool sources have dismissed suggestions that Mbaye has agreed a five-year contract, it is almost certain terms have been discussed with a fortnight remaining in the transfer window.
The club’s interest in Barcola is considered more advanced, and there is an expectation that a new bid will be made this week.

Transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano, RMC Sport‘s Fabrice Hawkins and L’Equipe‘s Loic Tanzi are among those to report on plans for an offer.
This comes following claims of a previous offer worth €115 million (£98.5m).
Furthermore, Le Parisien reports that PSG could now be willing to negotiate a deal below €150 million (£128.3m) having secured the signings of Ferran Torres, Maghnes Akliouche and Mika Godts.
Hawkins adds that “everyone now expects an agreement to be reached,” with Barcola set to remain out of contention for PSG until a resolution is found.
The Mail‘s Lewis Steele predicts that “it will be a big week” when it comes to the pursuit of both Barcola and Mbaye, with a potential knock-on effect for Cody Gakpo.

Gakpo scored and assisted in the 2-0 win over Como at Anfield but is a leading target for Tottenham and there are similar claims of a contract provisionally agreed.
Liverpool head to Newcastle for the opening game of the new campaign this Sunday and as it stands Andoni Iraola has Gakpo, Victor Munoz and Rio Ngumoha as his senior wide options.
Federico Chiesa and Harvey Elliott are also available but both played only 45 minutes in the behind-closed-doors draw with Como at the AXA Training Centre and the expectation is that, if they do stay, they will not feature prominently.
Chiesa has been more often called upon as a striker and there is a sense that if he remains at Anfield it would be as backup to Alexander Isak.

Meanwhile, Elliott has clear limitations out wide and his best work can be found in the No. 10 role, which would see him behind Florian Wirtz in the pecking order.
There are understandable concerns that Liverpool are less than a week out from the new season and still haven’t replaced Mo Salah, who was confirmed to be departing in March.
But the hope is that the pieces are now moving and significant progress can be made on Barcola at the least this week.
