Everton are among a growing list of clubs showing interest in Burnley striker Zian Flemming, according to Ben Jacobs, with Italian, French and Dutch clubs also credited with interest.
Burnley are hoping to keep hold of him. Flemming scored twice to earn Burnley a 2-2 draw away at West Ham on Sunday in their Championship opener, converting a penalty before levelling in stoppage time.
Manager Nicky Hayen admitted the timing wasn’t ideal for Burnley’s hopes of retaining him. “It didn’t help that he scored two times today,” Hayen said, before adding: “Zian is really important, not only with his goals but also for the way he plays for us.”
Flemming, 28, joined Burnley from Millwall for £7m last summer and was the club’s top scorer as they were relegated back to the Championship.
He’s also been linked with Coventry, Leeds and Brentford in recent weeks.
Hayen said he still believes staying at Turf Moor could be the best option for the striker, pointing to the system built around him.
Whether that view survives a September of continued transfer speculation remains to be seen but it is clear Burnley will be doing everything they can to retain the services of their prized asset.
