Manchester City midfielder Aemu Oyama has joined Danish A-Liga club HB Køge on a permanent deal.

The Cityzens announced the news via a post on their official club website this morning.

The 21-year-old Japanese international midfielder joined Manchester City from SOMPO WE League club Tokyo Verdy Beleza in January 2025 but she has struggled for game time with The Cityzens.

Oyama made two appearances for Manchester City in competitive football. She was a member of the squad that won the Barclays Women’s Super League title and Adobe Women’s FA Cup last season. The player also spent time out on loan at Swedish OBOS Damallsvenskan club FC Rosengård to further her development.

After completing her move to HB Køge, Oyama said “I felt instinctively most drawn to this club. I think their style of play closely resembles what I was looking for, and I felt that here I would have the opportunity to showcase my own qualities and my own way of playing. I hope that, in time, I will feel this was exactly the right move and I believe it will be.

“At the same time, I hope to demonstrate how much I have developed during my year-and-a-half at Manchester City.

“I’m looking forward to competing for the title and, of course, playing in the Champions League.”

Oyama’s move to Manchester City saw the player play her football outside of her native Japan for the first time in her career.
