Liverpool's interest in Ibrahim Mbaye has been given another twist after Jeremy Jacquet appeared to fuel speculation over the Paris Saint-Germain youngster's future.
Mbaye had emerged as another option for Liverpool as the Reds continue to strengthen their attacking options and search for a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah. Bradley Barcola remains the club's primary target, with the France international appearing increasingly likely to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
Bayer Leverkusen has previously been reported to be in direct talks with PSG over the winger. Liverpool could face greater competition for Mbaye, however, with Manchester United reportedly among eight clubs interested in the Senegal international. Despite that competition, Mbaye is claimed to favour a move to Anfield over joining Bayer Leverkusen.
Liverpool's interest in Mbaye has been given another twist after Jacquet appeared to show his support for a potential move to Anfield. The defender was spotted liking an Instagram post discussing the possibility of the PSG youngster joining the Reds, adding further fuel to speculation surrounding Mbaye's future.
Talks over Mbaye are reportedly ongoing, with Liverpool in contact with the teenager's representatives as they look to negotiate a lower fee with PSG.
The Senegal international is said to have agreed personal terms on a five-year contract, but senior figures at Liverpool have strongly denied those claims, insisting the club's interest remains exploratory at this stage.
Mbaye is a young and versatile winger who scored four senior goals for PSG last season, with three coming in just 10 Ligue 1 starts. The Senegal international has impressed with his pace, direct style and attacking ability, with talent scout Jacek Kulig describing him as "incredibly talented."

Mbaye is viewed as a player with significant potential and could follow in the footsteps of compatriot Sadio Mane by developing into a key player at Liverpool.
Liverpool faces a busy few weeks as they look to finalize its attacking options ahead of the new season. It has been a relatively quiet transfer window for the Reds so far, with Andoni Iraola preparing for his first campaign in charge. Mohamed Salah, Ibrahima Konate and Andy Robertson have all left as free agents, while Liverpool have brought in Jacquet, Victor Munoz and Ronald Araujo as replacements. Araujo has joined on a season-long loan.
With those areas of the squad now addressed, Liverpool have turned their attention to strengthening elsewhere, including the forward line. It remains to be seen whether the Reds can complete deals for Mbaye, Barcola or both.
