Arsenal have not tabled a bid for Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said the situation around the Nigerian international is “quiet”, with no active talks about a transfer to the Emirates:
“Victor Osimhen is in a similar situation to Barcelona and Viktor Gyokeres at this stage. Nothing really concrete is happening at this stage between Arsenal and Galatasaray. No negotiations, no bids, no conversations from what I heard.”
“At the moment, it’s a quiet topic. Also, Galatasaray sources say that their understanding is that the club absolutely want to keep Victor Osimhen.”
An enquiry was made for Osimhen
Despite Romano’s comments, several trusted reporters, including the BBC‘s Sami Mokbel, have confirmed that Arsenal “discussed” the forward with Galatasaray.
It is believed that Osimhen‘s name was mentioned when talks were held over deals for Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri.
Clearly, nothing progressed beyond those initial discussions, but the 27-year-old, who has scored 175 goals in his senior career, is clearly well liked by the Premier League champions.

Who could Arsenal sign instead?
The top targets are believed to be Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez and Juventus’s Kenan Yildiz, but neither player is thought to be available.
There is always a chance that Mikel Arteta’s side could make a late play for Bradley Barcola if negotiations over his move to Liverpool drag on even longer. However, Paris Saint-Germain’s €170m (£145.5m) asking price would likely put them off from doing that deal.
It’s possible that other names, such as Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams and RB Leipzig’s Antonio Nusa, could also come under consideration.
