Arsenal have reportedly stepped up their pursuit of Blackburn Rovers striker Igor Tyjon by submitting a fresh offer for the highly rated teenager.
The Gunners have tracked Tyjon for an extended period and are now attempting to finally bring the England youth international to north London. Arsenal’s interest in the forward is well established, with the club having previously made approaches for the youngster during the past year.
Recent reports suggest Arsenal have now made an offer worth up to around £2million for Tyjon, who is understood to be pushing for a move away from Blackburn. The teenager has reportedly rejected repeated attempts from Rovers to convince him to commit his long-term future to the Championship club.
That situation has placed Blackburn under increasing pressure as they look to determine the best way of handling Tyjon’s future. The club have previously rejected offers for the striker, but reports indicate they are now prepared to consider a sale as the summer transfer window approaches its conclusion.
Tyjon has emerged as one of the more exciting young forwards in English football and Arsenal have been monitoring his development closely. The 18-year-old has already gained first-team experience with Blackburn and has represented England at several youth levels.
His potential has made him an attractive option for Arsenal’s long-term recruitment strategy, with the club continuing to invest heavily in young players who could eventually develop into first-team stars.
ARSENAL‘s pursuit of Tyjon is understood to be about more than simply adding another body to Mikel Arteta’s senior squad.
