Manchester United are ready to clash with Liverpool for defender Wilfried Singo. The Red Devils have shown their interest in the Ivory Coast player, who currently plays for Turkish club Galatasaray.
The Red Devils to compete with Liverpool for Singo?
As reported by CaughtOffside, the 25-year-old Singo is considering moving out of Galatasaray. That is why **Liverpool**and Man United have renewed their interest in the defender. Apart from the two, clubs like Newcastle United, Arsenal, and Inter Milan have also shown their interest in the defender.
However, securing the transfer deal for Singo isn’t a cakewalk either. If the Red Devils want to secure Singo for next season, they must be ready to pay €40 million in order to complete the transfer deal. Singo joined Galatasaray in August last year. Before that, he was part of Monaco. He played for the club between 2023 and 2025. Previously, he played for Torino between 2020 and 2023.
Singo’s stats for the 2025-26 season at Galatasaray, as per FOTMOB:
Competitions Matches Duels Won Tackles Interceptions
Turkish Super Lig 19 70 17 14
UEFA Champions League 7 39 13 12
Will Singo be a good fit at Man United?
Man United are working on a stronger, fitter side by this summer. Additionally, they want a strong defensive lineup. This was a major reason why the Red Devils struggled to make an impact in the first half of the 2025-26 season. In such a scenario, if Singo manages to join Man United, it will be a bonus for the team’s defense. He played a crucial role in Galatasaray’s title victory at the Turkish Super Lig this year.
Now the Ivory Coast defender wants some Premier League experience. He knows he won’t get another golden opportunity like this. Interestingly, Singo is not the only defender sought by Man Utd. Players like David Raum, Antonee Robinson and Kim Min-jae are also on the Red Devils’ shortlist. The club management are also seeking strikers like Nicolo Tresoldi for the 2026-27 season.

What’s next for Wilfried Singo?
Singo is currently warming up for the next season. He represented the Ivory Coast national team at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Ivory Coast managed to progress beyond the group stage for the first time since their maiden appearance in the 2006 edition. However, they lost to Norway 2-1 in the Round of 32. Norway later made it to the quarterfinals, where England defeated them 2-1.
Wilfried Singo has nothing much to worry about in terms of disciplinary issues. However, he does need to work on his fitness issues. His last season was impacted by multiple injuries. However, in late November 2025, he suffered a serious muscle injury. This kept him out of action until January 2026, due to which he also missed the African Cup of Nations. Additionally, he suffered a hamstring injury during a World Cup match against Germany, though it wasn’t that serious. If he needs to make a name for himself in club football, he needs to be in prime form. He cannot afford to be injured again and again.
It will be tough for Singo to choose between two elite clubs of European club football next season. However, if Man United have made up their mind, nothing can stop him from joining the Red Devils at Old Trafford. It remains to be seen if he is equally interested in joining Old Trafford or not this summer.
