Arsenal have registered their interest in signing Sebastian Krug from Borussia Dortmund
Arsenal have started the new season the way they finished the last one.
Mikel Arteta’s side beat Manchester City 3-0 in the Community Shield at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff on Sunday, with goals from Riccardo Calafiori, Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard securing the club’s 18th title in the fixture.
Calafiori set the tone inside the opening minute, converting Myles Lewis-Skelly’s low ball across the box to give the Gunners an early lead.
Havertz doubled the advantage before half-time, and Odegaard, named player of the match, added a third three minutes into the second half after skipping past Josko Gvardiol and Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The result handed City boss Enzo Maresca a difficult start to his tenure in his first competitive match in charge.

Arsenal now turn their attention to the Premier League opener at the Emirates Stadium against newly promoted Coventry City on Friday.
Behind the scenes, though, the club’s transfer business shows no sign of slowing down.
According to Sky reporter Patrick Berger, Arsenal have registered their interest in Borussia Dortmund’s chief scout, Sebastian Krug, and have made initial contact over a possible move.
Krug has spent almost a decade at Dortmund and has played a central role in some of the club’s most lucrative transfers.
He was heavily involved in identifying and recruiting both Jude Bellingham and Erling Haaland, deals that later generated significant transfer income for the Bundesliga club.

Sky Germany reports that talks between the two parties have already taken place in London. Arsenal join Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United on the list of Premier League clubs known to have expressed interest in the Dortmund scout.
Krug has held the chief scout position at Dortmund since 2022 and has shared the role with Laurent Busser since November 2024. His current contract with the German club runs until 2028.
Should Arsenal press ahead with a move, it would mark another significant addition to the club’s recruitment setup, following a summer in which the first-team squad has already been strengthened.
Any deal would still need to be agreed with Dortmund, given the length of time remaining on Krug’s existing contract.
