Former Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold has seen his position at Real Madrid made clear, with manager Jose Mourinho having four ‘untouchables’. The right-back left the Reds last year shortly before his contract at Anfield expired, with Liverpool agreeing a deal worth £10million.

Alexander-Arnold has endured a tough start to life in the Spanish capital, making just 21 appearances for Madrid in La Liga during his debut season at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The 27-year-old spent two spells on the sidelines with injury for Madrid last season, which played a part in the former Liverpool star not enjoying a regular starting role in the team.

Madrid have a new manager at the helm this summer, with Mourinho taking charge following the departure of Alvaro Arbeloa, who was in interim charge for the second half of the season.

A report in Spanish news outlet AS has claimed that Mourinho has listed four players as ‘untouchable’ at Madrid, but Alexander-Arnold has not been included.

It has been claimed that Mourinho has named summer signing Yan Diomande on the list, along with Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr.

The Brazilian’s future has been the subject of speculation this summer, with Arsenal linked with a big-money move before he signed a new contract to commit his future to Madrid.

As a result, it suggests that Alexander-Arnold’s future at Madrid is not 100 percent guaranteed, although the right-back has not been linked with a move away from the Spanish capital as things stand.

Alexander-Arnold was handed a major blow in the summer when he was left out of Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the World Cup, with the Liverpool academy graduate absent from the 25-man group that travelled to North America.

Madrid have already had a busy summer transfer window, with one new signing seeing the Spanish giants bring Denzel Dumfries to the Bernabeu.

Dumfries was tentatively linked with a move to Liverpool earlier this summer, but will now be expected to compete with Alexander-Arnold for the right-back spot at Madrid in Mourinho’s squad.

Alexander-Arnold will also reunite with Ibrahima Konate, who left Liverpool at the end of June as a free agent to complete a move to Madrid.
