Liverpool kicks off its 2026-27 Premier League campaign this weekend, and bettors have had their say on the Reds’ chances this season.

Andoni Iraola will make his competitive debut as Liverpool manager on Sunday, Aug. 23 with a visit to Newcastle, and his team’s performance from the opening whistle should offer a glimpse into how it will function in the early stages of the campaign.

The Reds will need to improve defensively on what was a shaky second season under Arne Slot, and all eyes will be on Jeremy Jacquet, who is expected to start alongside Virgil van Dijk in the center of defense and provide much-needed stability.

The microscope will also firmly be on Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz after both struggled to make an impact in their debut seasons at Anfield.

Liverpool currently rank third in the outright betting market to lift the Premier League trophy come the end of the season at +600 odds, behind favorites Arsenal (+125) and Manchester City (+350) and ahead of Manchester United (+700) and Chelsea (+800).

But do Premier League bettors agree with those prices? At Betway, the Reds are taking the fourth-most bets of any team in the outright market, so not quite.

Title holders Arsenal are understandably taking the most bets (21 percent) to retain their trophy, followed by Manchester City (17 percent), who enter the season under a manager not named Pep Guardiola for the first time in a decade.

Manchester United are taking more bets than Liverpool among Betway customers, too, with 14 percent of the share in the outright market compared to the Reds’ 12 percent.

Chelsea then rank fifth, taking nine percent of total bets, ahead of Xabi Alonso’s debut managerial season in England.

''With a new manager, no Mo Salah, and an ageing Virgil Van Dijk at the back, Liverpool have a lot of questions to answer going into this season, so it's no surprise to see that punters have been pretty cold on the Reds going into the new campaign,” said Betway spokesperson Lewis Knowles.

''With question marks over many of Arsenal's title rivals going into this season, it's no surprise that the Gunners have been the best backed side in this year's Premier League outright betting, accounting for over 21 percent of all bets on the market."

“There was a feeling, when the market first went up that punters wanted to take on the Premier League Champions, but interest in them has really increased in recent weeks, and we've even seen support for them to win multiple trophies.”
