Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca has provided an update on Omar Marmoush after the forward was visibly uncomfortable in the closing minutes of Sunday’s 3-0 Community Shield defeat to Arsenal.
Erling Haaland's fifth season at Manchester City, coming up!

Enzo Maresca was handed a brutal reality check on his first competitive matchday in the dugout for Manchester City as goals from Riccardo Calafiori, Kai Havertz, and Martin Odegaard downed a Sky Blue side who fell behind within 25 seconds of the contest's kick-off at the Millennium Stadium.
Erling Haaland, Elliot Anderson, Nico O’Reilly and Ruben Dias all started despite having only recently reported back in Manchester for pre-season following an extended period of rest after their duties at the summer's FIFA World Cup in North America.
Manchester City proved far too easy to play against in South Wales, evidently lacking in cohesion, and were toothless going forward for the most part as Omar Marmoush, Rayan Cherki, and Jack Grealish came on at various points of the second-half to help overturn a three-goal deficit.

Maresca update on Marmoush after Arsenal injury scare
Following the contest, there were clear concerns over a potential pre-season injury picked up by Omar Marmoush after a heavy collision with Arsenal defender Cristhian Mosquera minutes before the full-time whistle.
With the conclusion of the contest imminent, Marmoush was not withdrawn and the Egyptian star kept hobbling whilst Manchester City fans remained anxious over the fitness of a player who, if he stays at the club into the forthcoming season, has a big point to prove to both himself and Enzo Maresca after an indifferent 2025/26 campaign.
However, speaking during his post-match press conference in Cardiff on Sunday afternoon, Maresca revealed that Omar Marmoush ‘looks okay’ after being in visible pain as a result of his coming-together with Mosquera.
Where does Omar Marmoush fit into Maresca’s attack?
It remains unclear where Omar Marmoush ranks in Enzo Maresca’s pecking order ahead of Sunday’s Premier League opener against Marc Rose's Bournemouth, although many would imagine that Jeremy Doku and Antoine Semenyo will begin the season as first-choice wide men on the left and right sides respectively.
Manchester City are closing in on an £85 million deal with Tottenham for Brazil international Savinho and are in talks with the North London side over completing a deal in the coming days for a player long been wanting a new challenge to progress his career. Should he leave, City's sporting director Hugo Viana will enter the market for a new winger.
Omar Marmoush is therefore unlikely to be a first-choice starter under Enzo Maresca and unless he backs himself to break into the new Manchester City manager’s starting line-up, he would not be short of options if were to explore a potential exit 18 months on from joining the club from Bundesliga giants Eintracht Frankfurt.
Erling Haaland is unlikely to rotate with Omar Marmoush even if the latter was deemed as an alternative at number one option for the striker position, so it remains to be seen what the final weeks of the transfer window hold for the Egypt international front-man.
Another name facing uncertainty in their Manchester City future during the final fortnight of the ongoing summer transfer window is Nico Gonzalez, despite the Spaniard's public declaration during the club's pre-season tour of Hong Kong and South Korea in wanting to remain at the Etihad Stadium this season.
