Liverpool winger Kieran Morrison is close to agreeing a season-long loan move to League One side Sheffield Wednesday.

Morrison made his first-team breakthrough with the Reds last year and featured during the early stages of pre-season, scoring the first goal of the Andoni Iraola era in the 4-2 friendly win over Sunderland in Nashville last month.

With the full senior squad now back together following the World Cup, Liverpool are expected to sanction a number of loan moves for players who were involved during the warm-up programme.

Ifeanyi Ndukwe, the 18-year-old centre-back who has impressed since arriving from Austria Vienna this summer, is ineligible to play for Liverpool this year with a few clubs now being considered for a loan move with a decision expected in the coming days.

But one proposed move that is now on hold is James McConnell's loan to Championship side Preston North End.
