Arsenal have continued to reshape their coaching structure ahead of the 2026-27 season, with changes taking place across both the first team and academy.
The club are also beginning a new chapter at Hale End after appointing Pascal De Maesschalck as their new academy director.
The Belgian replaced Per Mertesacker, who left his academy role after several years overseeing the development of Arsenal’s young players.
The changes come as the club continue to focus on strengthening their pathway from academy football to the senior team.
There have also been adjustments around Mikel Arteta’s first-team staff, with Arsenal continuing to build the coaching group supporting the manager.

The changes at different levels of the club have created opportunities for coaches already working within Arsenal’s development system.
One of those coaches is Mohamed Mohamed, who has now moved into a new position at the club.
Mohamed has updated his LinkedIn profile to show that he became an Arsenal Academy Coach in July 2026, marking a progression from his previous role.
Mohamed had worked with Arsenal since November 2019 as a part-time Pre-Academy and Talent ID Football Coach. His responsibilities included coaching young players at Hale End, supporting development squads and working with academy staff to identify promising talent.
Since 2021, Mohamed says he has been involved in the development of 38 players who went on to sign for Arsenal’s academy.
His work covered the Pre-Academy Development Centre, Hale End’s Pre-Academy Elite group and the Academy Development Squad.
He has also coached across several academy age groups and worked alongside local and regional scouts at talent-identification events.

Mohamed’s previous responsibilities included producing player reports and helping unsigned grassroots players earn trials or secure places within Arsenal’s academy.
His coaching development has also progressed during his time at Arsenal.
The club nominated him to complete his UEFA B on the Pro Game course in 2024, and his profile now lists the UEFA B Licence among his qualifications.
The latest move therefore represents another step in Mohamed’s progression within Arsenal’s academy structure.
After several years working in pre-academy development and talent identification, he has now taken up an Academy Coach position as the club begins a new era at Hale End.
