Arsenal
Arsenal are ready to sell Martin Zubimendi in this summer transfer window. The Gunners’ arch rivals, Chelsea, have links with the Spanish player. The midfielder wants to play regularly as he may get less gametime after the arrival of Bruno Guimaraes. The Blues’ manager Xabi Alonso knows Zubimendi well and wants him at Stamford Bridge.
Martin Zubimendi has an uncertain future at Arsenal
As reported by TEAMtalk, Arsenal have no problem in offloading Martin Zubimendi whom they signed last summer. Chelsea are the primary suitors to get him on board. The interest from the blue side of London intensifies as their manager Xabi Alonso wants to reunite with his ex-player.
The 27-year-old joined the Gunners just last summer in 2025 from Real Sociedad for €70m, according to Transfermarkt. The Spaniard came to London with high expectations having performed consistently at Real Sociedad. He fulfilled the expectations surrounding him. Zubimendi featured in all the 38 matches in Premier League in their league winning 2025-26 season and became an indispensable player for Mikel Arteta’s side.
However, apparently there was a fall in his consistency towards the end of the season. Moreover, Bruno Guimaraes’ signing in that midfield position has increased the competition for minutes this season. This may lead Martin Zubimendi to sit on the bench.

Chelsea have developed interest for Zubimendi
This has led Arsenal to open the market for the Spanish midfielder. The Emirates side may consider bids for their World Cup winning player. The north London club have fixed a valuation of €90m for Zubimendi. The Gunners are not in a hurry to bid goodbye to the former Real Sociedad player. If any move gets materialized then it would be financially beneficial for Arsenal. The heavy valuation signifies the player’s quality and profit they are trying to make after his one year stay at Emirates. The Spaniard has also kept the chances alive of joining a new side this summer.
Chelsea are the front runners in the pursuit of Martin Zubimendi. Therefore, the Chelsea board will try to find a solution to strike a deal with their rivals as many players have been exchanged between the London sides in recent years. Head coach Xabi Alonso has liked the player for a very long time. The Spanish tactician has previously worked with him when he was the coach of Real Sociedad’s B team. Zubimendi was still playing for the junior football team at that time. Having an idea about his strengths, Alonso wants him at the club.
Zubimendi will be a perfect fit in Chelsea’s midfield if Enzo Fernandez leaves. Manchester City are heavily linked with the Argentine midfielder as Enzo Maresca wants him to join the Cityzens. It is believed that a price of €100m would satisfy the Blues to sell Fernandez. With Rodri’s departure from Man City to Barcelona, this transfer may happen.
Real Madrid are also monitoring Zubimendi
Los Blancos were too late to approach Zubimendi last summer when he joined Arsenal. Real Madrid will try to find opportunities for Zubimendi this summer. The Spanish side have already missed on several targets this summer.
Rodri was their primary target but he has joined their rivals Barcelona. Mikel Arteta still considers the 27-year-old for the 2026-27 season. But Guimaraes’ joining and interest from two European giants may turn the situation.
