'As of today' - Fabrizio Romano sets record straight on Arsenal links with Osimhen
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has once again reacted to speculation suggesting that Arsenal are determined to sign Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen before the close of the summer transfer window.
Links between Osimhen and the Premier League champions emerged after Galatasaray approached Arsenal to enquire about the availability of Gabriel Martinelli.
There have also been claims that manager Mikel Arteta is keen to add a marquee striker to his squad, with the Nigeria international reportedly identified as a potential target.
However, a major stumbling block to any potential deal could be Osimhen's high wages, with the former African Footballer of the Year earning around €403,846 per week.
Romano has moved to set the record straight, insisting that Arsenal have yet to make any concrete move for Osimhen.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said: "My understanding is that between Arsenal and Victor Osimhen, there is nothing really concrete. So there are no negotiations, no bids.
"I know many people started linking Osimhen with Arsenal since they had a conversation with Galatasaray over Gabriel Martinelli, but the understanding is that Arsenal are not in concrete or advanced negotiations for Victor Osimhen as of today."
The transfer specialist added that while the situation could still change before the window closes, Galatasaray are not currently willing to entertain discussions over the striker's departure.
"Should this change between now and the end of the window, I will let you know, but Galatasaray absolutely guarantee that they are not entertaining any talks for Victor Osimhen."
Osimhen is under contract with Super Lig champions Galatasaray until June 30, 2029.
