There are only a handful of Liverpool players worthy of making your Fantasy Premier League team to start the campaign, while several others should be avoided

The 2026-27 Premier League season is almost here, which means it is time to finalize your Fantasy Premier League (FPL) team for Gameweek 1.
Liverpool players have proven quite popular in fantasy over the years, most notably Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, but this season there appears to be a shortage of options in both attack and defense.
Without Salah, who dominated FPL scoring leaderboards for nearly the entirety of his nine-year career at Anfield, there is no one obvious pick among the Reds’ current attackers, in part because of the club’s lack of activity this summer transfer window.
Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz are semi-popular picks going into the new season, but both still must prove themselves after underwhelming last term. As always, van Dijk looks to be a strong choice, while Dominik Szoboszlai is also a favorite among FPL players.
Ahead of the new Premier League campaign, here are three Liverpool players to avoid putting in your FPL team to start the season.
Jeremie Frimpong
Frimpong was one of several new Anfield recruits who failed to hit the ground running last season. He finished 85th among defenders in FPL scoring (63 total points), largely because he started just 12 league games due to various hamstring and muscle injuries.
Not only does Frimpong remain an injury risk, but he could lose his starting right back spot to Szoboszlai, who deputized in that role at times last campaign.

For that reason, Frimpong should be nowhere near your FPL team until he shows he can remain fit and a consistent choice in Andoni Iraola’s XI.
Ryan Gravenberch
Gravenberch was a strong FPL asset last season, finishing third among all Liverpool players with 144 total fantasy points. The Dutch midfielder tallied five goals and five assists and regularly took home defensive contribution points.
This year, his price increase to £6.0m (from £5.5m) makes him a less desirable pick to start the season.
While he could end up tallying a similar points total, it’d be better to opt for more attacking options at that price point, such as Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye or Brighton’s Pascal Gross, who is £0.5m cheaper.
Ronald Araujo
Araujo joined Liverpool on a season-long loan from Barcelona earlier this month and certainly has potential to bolster Iraola’s defensive options throughout the course of the season.
For now, though, it is best to avoid the Uruguayan center back at his £5.5m price tag until he solidifies his place in the starting lineup.
Fellow incomer Jeremy Jacquet is believed to be ahead of Araujo in the pecking order and can be had for just £5.0m. Stronger options around the league at Araujo’s price include Arsenal’s Riccardo Calafiori, Manchester City’s Josko Gvardiol, and Aston Villa’s Ezri Konsa.
