The summer transfer window is now into the final two weeks, and for Liverpool, there is still an opportunity to strengthen the team considerably before it closes again.

The Reds have made three signings so far, with Andoni Iraola being backed by a few arrivals to help him before the season finally gets underway this weekend. There are still some key areas to improve, most notably in the forward ranks, where the Liverpool boss has called for further reinforcements to bolster the options at his disposal.

Elsewhere, there could be a few sales and loan exits on the cards too, as the club balances the roster of players before the market comes to a halt.

So, with that said, here's a look at the latest Liverpool transfer news and rumors ahead of another important day of action.

Curtis Jones (Liverpool)

The Curtis Jones transfer saga could finally be coming to an end one way or another, as Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Inter Milan is preparing a "final" bid for the Liverpool ace.

It's claimed that the Nerazzurri expect a deal to be completed in the region of $35 million, with the midfielder's contract entering the final 12 months.

Inter has had two offers rejected for Jones so far, with the third now expected to finally end in a positive outcome for all parties involved.

Liverpool.com says: This move has been on the cards for some time, and it has left a bit of a bad taste in some fans' mouths, following Jones's struggles in preseason.

An exit seems right for a player who is now at a crossroads in his career, with an opportunity to reinvent himself and kick on with regular minutes in a league that could offer plenty of chances to do just that.

For Liverpool, it will land some extra funds for the club for a homegrown star, which could be vital in securing some other deals this summer.

Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye (PSG)

Paris Saint-Germain has decided to freeze out both Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye from matchday teams moving forward, until the pair have sorted out their futures at the club.

That's according to TeamTalk, which reports that neither star will be available for selection in the final two weeks of the transfer window, as links continue over double switch to Liverpool.

It means both Barcola and Mbaye may have played their last games for PSG, though that could change if a U-turn on their future comes about.

Liverpool.com says: Considering the potential fee that both Barcola and Mbaye could fetch in the final few weeks of the transfer window, it's no surprise that PSG may not wish to risk using the duo in competitive action.

It should give hope to Liverpool that a deal can be done, with the French side showing its hand that neither is available, with talks ongoing over a deal.

The transfer fees clearly remain a problem, but the Reds will certainly hope to negotiate it down somewhat in the next two weeks.
