A new behind-the-scenes docuseries charting Pep Guardiola's final two seasons at Manchester City has been released on Prime Video in the UK.
The four-part docuseries called A Beautiful Obsession captures the last two seasons of a defining era at the Club and Guardiola’s final years as manager after a decade at the helm, offering an intimate look behind-the-scenes from the boot room right through to the boardroom.
Filmed by City Studios, the series is directed by Academy and BAFTA award-winning filmmaker Kevin Macdonald, in addition to City Studios’ John De Caux and produced by Plan B/KM Films.
The series opens as City’s record-breaking run of 26 games unbeaten comes to a shuddering halt, with a string of defeats in late 2024. Viewers can then follow the Club’s journey through the 2024/25 season, including the emotional departure of Kevin De Bruyne and the arrival of new exciting talent.
The series culminates with the climax of the 2025/26 season, as Manchester City secure a domestic cup double and say farewell to Pep Guardiola, Bernardo Silva and John Stones.
Gavin Johnson, Media Director at City Football Group, said: “We’re incredibly proud to be releasing this documentary series today that offers a new insight to Manchester City and surpasses the scale of other documentaries we’ve done before.
“It wouldn’t be achievable without the hard work, trust and collaboration that our City Studios’ embedded crew have built over the last few years with the players, manager, football staff and club executives.
“It has been fantastic to work with Kevin MacDonald and Plan B/KM Films on this series and it is great endorsement for the level of our productions that we are now able to gain interest and recognition from those at the very top of the industry.
“We hope Manchester City fans and sports documentary enthusiasts enjoy the series.”
City Studios is the in-house creative and production hub at the heart of Manchester City, producing award-winning documentaries and impact across strategy, content and culture.
The docuseries joins City Studios’ successful portfolio of documentaries which includes ‘Together: 4-in-a-row’, ‘Together: Treble Winners’ and ‘A Farewell to Txiki’ amongst other player productions. All available to watch here.
The docuseries will be available at no additional cost to Prime members and joins Prime Video’s wide selection of sports programming in the UK and Ireland this summer.
