Chelsea have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Rafael Leao for just £34million as uncertainty continues over Pedro Neto’s future.
The AC Milan winger has emerged as a potential market opportunity after Arsenal and Manchester United cooled their interest, with reports claiming Chelsea have now been made aware of his availability.
That price becomes particularly striking when compared with Chelsea’s stance on Neto.
The Blues value their Portugal international at close to £100m.

Rafael Leao Chelsea opportunity creates £66m transfer question
Leao has been linked with Chelsea repeatedly in recent years, and ReadChelsea reported in May that the Blues had already been offered the chance to sign the AC Milan star.
The situation now appears to have moved.
Fresh reporting claims Milan could sanction his departure for around €40m (£34m), with Chelsea emerging as a possible destination after interest from Arsenal and Manchester United faded.
That creates an intriguing financial possibility for Chelsea.
ReadChelsea reported within the last 24 hours that Chelsea now value Pedro Neto at nearly £100m amid interest from Manchester City and Al-Hilal.
If Chelsea eventually received anything close to that valuation, Leao’s reported £34m availability would theoretically leave a difference of roughly £66m between the two deals.
There is no indication Chelsea have decided to sell Neto and buy Leao, but the contrast is impossible to ignore.
Xabi Alonso could face unexpected winger opportunity
Neto remains an important part of Xabi Alonso’s squad.
He featured throughout pre-season and was even trialled at right wing-back against Real Sociedad, giving Chelsea another reason not to accept a cut-price departure. Chelsea have yet to receive a formal offer matching their valuation.
Leao would offer something different.
The 27-year-old has spent seven seasons at Milan and remains capable of playing from the left or through central attacking areas.
Chelsea already have Morgan Rogers, Jamie Gittens and other options capable of operating from the left, so another winger is hardly an urgent requirement.
At £34m, however, the equation changes.
Chelsea are demanding almost three times that amount for Neto.
If someone eventually meets their extraordinary valuation, the Blues may suddenly have a much cheaper Portugal international available to replace him.
