QPR are said to be interested in landing the Premier League defender this summer. Fellow Championship sides Blackburn Rovers and Portsmouth have also been mentioned as potential suitors in this transfer window.
Chambers, 22, spent the second-half of last season on loan at Charlton Athletic after signing for the Addicks on a temporary basis in January. He went on to make 18 appearances for the London outfit to help them secure their second tier status under the guidance of head coach Nathan Jones.

In this latest update regarding his situation, the Hoops’ manager Stephan has said, as per a report by West London Sport: “No – we took Dennis (Cirkin) last week, so I’m very happy with (Boy) Kemper, Cirkin and Kealey Adamson, who came play on the left side. Tariq Lamptey can play on the left side as well, so I think we have enough options in this position.”
QPR won 3-1 away at Portsmouth on the opening day after goals by Ilias Chair (x2) and Koki Saito. They are back in action this weekend against newly promoted Bolton Wanderers at home as they eye another victory.
QPR no longer need Liverpool defender Luke Chambers
QPR are well stocked up with options in Chambers’ position. As Stephan has alluded to, they have Dennis Cirkin and Boy Kemper at their disposal, whilst Kealey Adamson and Tariq Lamptey can also play there.
Therefore, the door could swing open for Blackburn Rovers and Portsmouth to pounce now. They could both still do with reinforcements for their respective defensive departments.
Chambers has been on the books at Liverpool for his whole career to date. He has risen up through their academy and was a regular at various different youth levels as a youngster.
The England youth international has played four times for their first-team so far in his career. As well as Charlton Athletic, he has also been shipped out to Kilmarnock and Wigan Athletic in the past to get some experience under his belt and to boost his development.

The Verdict: Another Liverpool loan exit to the EFL would suit Luke Chambers
Chambers is unlikely to get many senior minutes at Liverpool this term due to competition for places at Anfield. Therefore, another departure would be a sensible move for him.
A switch to QPR is seemingly off the cards now though which could open up an opportunity for either Blackburn Rovers or Portsmouth to make a call. The latter were too open at the back against the Hoops last time out and need to tighten things up under John Mousinho.
Chambers’ contract expires at the end of June next year so Liverpool risk losing him for nothing if they don’t sell him now or in January, assuming he doesn’t pen an extension anytime soon. His long-term situation on Merseyside is up in the air right now.
