From the moment the 2025-26 season ended, there has been a steady buzz of speculation around Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones, with the club trained Scouser heading into the final year of his contract and resistant to signing a new deal.
The expected destination, were a transfer to be agreed, was always meant to be Inter Milan in Serie A, with Jones seeking a new challenge and a more key first team role after seeming to have hit his ceiling as fourth choice for three midfield places at Liverpool.
Today, it appears that [move has been agreed](https://x.com/MatteMoretto/status/2090054464631693820), with word out of Italy claiming a fee of around €35M (£30M) including add-ons has been agreed between Inter and Liverpool. With personal terms already sorted, confirmation is expected shortly.
Since making his senior debut in the 2018-19 season, Jones has gone on to appear 228 times for his boyhood club but has never been seen as a first choice option in midfield and gotten a number of his starts filling in at right back or on the wing.
Despite that his departure likely won’t impact the Reds’ starting eleven on opening day, it does leave a significant hole in midfield from a depth point of view and if Jones’ sale doesn’t lead to a positional signing the club will face major criticism for agreeing it.
