Former Celtic Target ‘Agrees’ to Join Barcelona – Report

Dominik Livaković is a name many Celtic fans will remember after being linked with the Hoops in 2023. The Croatian goalkeeper would then join Fenerbahçe for around £5.7 million.

In recent seasons, Livaković has spent spells on loan at Girona and, most recently, the final six months of last season back at Dinamo Zagreb.

However, in a shock to those who have followed Livaković, he has agreed personal terms with Barcelona, according to journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu on X.

Hansi Flick’s side are said to be negotiating with Fenerbahçe over a move for around €3 million.

Given Celtic’s need for competition for Viljami Sinisalo, at 31 Livaković is by no means an old goalkeeper and would arguably be a shrewd signing if Celtic were to gazump Barcelona at the eleventh hour.

Given the wages players are paid in Turkey, wages would likely be a potential stumbling block, and Celtic themselves have instead been linked with moves for Balázs Tóth and Gavin Bazunu in the English Championship.

The Hoops are reportedly set to sign competition for Sinisalo this summer in the coming weeks.

Interestingly, reports in Catalonia suggest Livaković will immediately be loaned back to Dinamo Zagreb, in what has become commonplace for Barcelona to sign players and immediately loan them out in recent seasons.

Time will tell whether Celtic do sign a challenger for Sinisalo or a goalkeeper who comes in and plays games when the Finn needs a rest, but supporters will be hoping a shrewd signing is made, and Livaković could represent that.
