Inter Milan’s pursuit of Curtis Jones has been a running story throughout the summer, with the Serie A champions consistently identifying him as their top midfield target.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Inter reached a verbal agreement with Liverpool for a €35 million package, with the club also finalising terms directly with the player.

Romano reported that Jones was expected to undergo a medical as the transfer moved towards completion.
That update followed weeks of talks, complicated by Liverpool’s initial valuation and Inter’s need to first create space in midfield.
Inter’s room to manoeuvre opened up after Davide Frattesi’s move to Lazio was agreed, freeing up both a squad slot and funds.
Jones had also missed Liverpool’s last two pre-season friendlies against Como, with the club citing a hip issue.
Sky Sports News has now offered a more cautious account of where talks stand.
Reporter Lyall Thomas said Inter are in “advanced talks” with Liverpool, with negotiations restarting on Tuesday and the two clubs moving closer to an agreement.
Thomas added that a package close to the near-£30 million Inter paid Tottenham for Djed Spence would likely be enough to get a deal for Jones done.
However, Sky Sports’ account differs from Romano’s in one key respect. Thomas said there is “still no full agreement yet,” with terms being discussed intensely as talks continue.
The 25-year-old has entered the final year of his contract at Anfield, with his deal set to expire in June 2027. That situation has increased pressure on Liverpool to sell this summer rather than risk losing him for nothing next year.
Curtis Jones came through Liverpool’s academy and made his first-team debut in 2019.
He has gone on to make more than 200 appearances for the club, scoring 22 goals and providing 25 assists, and was part of the squad that won the 2019-20 Premier League title.
Should the move go through, Jones would join a growing group of English players at Inter, including John Stones and Djed Spence, both of whom arrived earlier this summer.
