Two Celtics Fan Favorite Players to Clash in World Cup Qualifier Game This Month image

We still have about a two-month wait until the NBA regular season resumes, but with the FIBA Basketball World Cup taking place next year, qualifier matches are being staged in the coming weeks.
Several notable NBA players will be in action, including two Celtics players who are among those competing in international games for their countries this month, and they will clash in a match next week.
Two Celtics Fan Favorite Players to Clash in World Cup Qualifier Game
Celtics guard Hugo Gonzalez and center Neemias Queta will represent their respective countries soon and will play one another on Aug. 28 in a World Cup qualifier group-stage game.
Gonzalez, a 2025 first-round pick, will represent his country of Spain, while Queta will represent Portugal.

Both have key roles on their national teams, being some of the best players in the NBA from their countries.
Queta is excited for the matchup against his NBA teammate, saying, “It’s going to be a good matchup, a good game. Hugo is a very versatile player: he defends, shoots, knows how to pass and can dribble. He’s going to give us some problems, but I know him and I can give my teammates some tips about what he can do. But obviously there will be some trash talk, above all in good fun” (via A Bola).
It'll be nice seeing two competitive players face each other, before coming back together soon after to prepare for the upcoming 2026-27 NBA season.
