The start of the new Premier League campaign also brings around another season of Fantasy Premier League, with plenty of Chelsea players looking superb options for budding managers.
There is optimism surrounding Chelsea’s chances in the 2026/27 campaign, with Xabi Alonso seeming to settle on a back three formation towards the end of pre-season.
The Blues do not have any form of European football to contend with this season, allowing their starting players appropriate rest to thrive in each league game.

The Chelsea Chronicle have outlined five players FPL managers need to be looking at for a successful season!
Joao Pedro – £7.5m
One of the bargains of the season, there is no surprise that Joao Pedro is the second-most selected player on this year’s game.
Over 60% of managers own the Brazilian, and you are simply missing out if you don’t pick him in your side this season.
He scored 177 points last season, with 15 goals and four assists last season. Expect that number to continue to rise under Alonso.

Marco Palestra – £5.5m
At the time of writing, Marco Palestra is owned by just 2.7% of managers in FPL. This looks incredibly low given his potential in Alonso’s system.
Signed as a high-flying wing-back, the Italian has the opportunity to get involved in the attack a lot, providing ample opportunity for goals and assists.
Marc Cucurella became a semi-regular with attacking returns in the previous two seasons, and the evidence suggests Palestra may be about to do the exact same.
Morgan Rogers – £7.5m
Chelsea spent a club-record fee to sign Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa. FPL managers can pick him up for just £7.5m.
The England international has 34 goal involvements over his last two Premier League campaigns, and around better players at Stamford Bridge he can expect to continue on that trajectory.
One thing managers will need to watch out for is his discipline. Rogers picked up seven yellow cards last season and 10 the one before, which is -1 point to his numbers.
Reece James – £5.5m
If Reece James can stay fit this season, he could be one of the best assets in the game, and there is optimism he will be available more often.
No European football instantly brings down the captain’s workload, allowing him in theory to not need resting so often this season.
Alonso seems to favour James in a midfield position too, opening up the chance for him to dictate play from the central areas.

Enzo Fernandez – £7m
With it looking increasingly more likely that Enzo Fernandez stays at Chelsea, £7m could be a bargain for the midfielder who scored 10 goals last season.
His ability in front of goal has only improved every season he has been in England, and there is nothing to suggest this trend will not continue.
The Argentine is so often the man for big occasions at Stamford Bridge, and will no doubt be called upon again should he remain in West London.
