Liverpool are expected to be active in the transfer market between now and the transfer deadline.
Lots of conversations are happening behind the scenes in terms of incomings and outgoings as Andoni Iraola aims to fine-tune his squad.
Curtis Jones has agreed a deal to sign for Inter Milan and is expected to have a medical later this week. And if the Scouser leaves, there will be a massive hole to fill in midfield.
Until today, all the reporting has suggested that the Reds will not add to their midfield options.
Now, however, Andy Hunter of The Guardian claims that could change based on market opportunities.
Liverpool could sign a midfielder
Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch and Dom Szoboszlai are expected to be Iraola’s go-to options in midfield.
Trey Nyoni’s emergence is a big positive, with the youngster expected to feature a lot more prominently this season.
[🟢] IN JUNE: Player sales or market opportunities could result in a centre-half and midfielder arriving later in the window, however. 🧐🤔

With Florian Wirtz and Harvey Elliott expected to be stationed as No.10s, there is still space in the squad for another midfielder.
And Hunter feels Liverpool could pounce if suitable market opportunities arise between now and the transfer deadline.
An excerpt from the article reads: “Player sales or market opportunities could result in a centre-half and midfielder arriving later in the window, however.”
It is important to mention that the Guardian report in question is from June, but even at the time, it was explicitly mentioned that the Reds could spring to life during the back end of the window.
