Nuggets major new target emerges after trading Peyton Watosn

After trading Peyton Watson to the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Denver Nuggets are shifting their focus to securing a marquee former NBA star in free agency.

Per NBA insider Chris Haynes, the Nuggets "have their eyes directed" at DeMar DeRozan.

The Nuggets are in the mix among contenders seeking the commitment of the current unrestricted free agent.

Nuggets pursuing DeMar DeRozan

Along with the Miami Heat and the Washington Wizards, the Denver Nuggets have recently emerged as a significant suitor for DeMar DeRozan.

DeRozan entered free agency after the Sacramento Kings waived him this offseason. The former NBA star averaged 18.4 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 4.1 assists last 2025-26 NBA season.

A six-time All-Star and still highly capable of contributing on a productive basis, DeRozan is certainly a compelling target for the Nuggets and several other contenders.

With Peyton Watson no longer on their roster, Denver can assign DeRozan as the leader of their second unit to help Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray carry the team's scoring load.
