Trabzonspor surprised Mohamed Salah with a visit from Liverpool super fan Isaac Kearney

Mohamed Salah's move away from Liverpool after nine seasons may have changed the color his shirt, his league and his physical surroundings, but one off-the-pitch relationship followed him 2,761 miles from Merseyside to Trabzon, Turkey.

Salah super fan Isaac Kearney was flown to Turkey for a surprise reunion with the Egyptian star at Trabzonspor after he officially moved to the club for the next two seasons on a free transfer.

Kearney, who has Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome, was introduced to fans following countless viral videos of him playing a toy guitar and singing Liverpool chants. Meanwhile, Tottenham's new double bomba plans could interfere with the potential transfer of Cody Gakpo.

Kearney's connection with Salah grew after a Christmas surprise in 2024 after the winger and Virgil van Dijk visited his school before he was later invited to Liverpool's training ground and served as a matchday mascot at Anfield.

Trabzonspor decided to keep the bond alive after Salah's high-profile move to Turkey. The club flew Kearney and his family out as special guests and documented his journey from the airport to the moment he finally saw Salah again.

Kearney boarded a Turkish Airlines flight with his family, enjoyed orange juice and watched videos about Turkish culture before a flight attendant arrived with a jet-themed plate carrying a new Salah Trabzonspor jersey.

He pulled on the shirt and looked out of the plane window toward Trabzon, with the club's Papara Park home waiting below. The stadium holds roughly 41,000 supporters on match days.

The 34-year-old winger debuted for the club as a substitute against Kasimpasa during a 1-1 draw on Saturday. But the biggest moment outside of the underwhelming cameo showed once Kearney reached the training complex.

Kearney ran straight toward Salah after getting off the plane and the former Liverpool forward broke into a huge smile as he welcomed his young friend.

The young fan also met goalkeeper Andre Onana and midfielder Ozan Tufan before getting the chance to train and strike the ball with the players. Trabzonspor captioned the video, "More than just a club..." and racked up over 8.5 million views.

Liverpool supporters flooded the replies with praise, with one writing, "Fair enough, I will support Trabzonspor," while another said the Turkish club is now on their "good list." Others even suggested that Salah was uniting the fanbases of Liverpool and Trabzonspor.

The reunion happened just before Trabzonspor's competitive schedule kicks off with a Europa League qualifier against Ferencvaros on Aug. 20 and their first Super Lig meeting with Istanbul Basaksehir three days later.
