Manchester United face a potentially hectic end to the summer transfer window as Michael Carrick seeks to bolster his squad. The United manager is determined to build upon the side that secured a Champions League spot last season.
Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos have already joined as part of the club's emphasis on reshaping the midfield. However, Carrick's side have been heavily linked with a third addition in that position.
United have a long-standing interest in Brighton star Carlos Baleba. The Reds pursued the 22-year-old last summer and have since renewed their interest in Baleba, lodging a bid for the Cameroon international.
Arsenal prospect Myles Lewis-Skelly has also been linked with a switch to United, who are also targeting a new left-back, and a club official has addressed the teenager's future with the Gunners. Here, MEN Sport looks at the most significant transfer stories surrounding Old Trafford.
Myles Lewis-Skelly transfer stance
Arsenal CEO Richard Garlick refused to rule out selling Myles Lewis-Skelly this summer, boosting United's chances of signing the youngster. It was reported that United had been offered the 19-year-old, who can operate at left-back and in midfield, by Arsenal, following Bruno Guimaraes' arrival from Newcastle.
"There's been a lot of speculation around players," Garlick said when asked about Lewis-Skelly and fellow Arsenal star Ethan Nwaneri. "I can't stop other clubs being interested.

"I think Myles has had a fantastic end to last season and has started this one really well - we're very, very happy with him. Ethan has had a great pre-season as well and I think it's just a case of looking at what opportunities there are that will help both of those in terms of their career moving forward.
"We are not actively looking at selling those homegrown players but if the right opportunity came up - right for them and the club - we'd obviously consider that."
Man United work on £65m deal
United have submitted an opening bid of £60million for Carlos Baleba, with a further £5m in potential add-ons. The club have been eager to bring in a third midfielder following Manuel Ugarte's injury during the World Cup.
The Athletic reports that the two clubs are "closing in" on a deal for Baleba, despite the offer falling short of Brighton's asking price. Negotiations are said to be continuing as both parties work towards reaching a mutually agreeable fee for the midfielder.

This means Baleba could make his way to Old Trafford, a year on from being valued in excess of £100m. The Cameroon international is currently nursing an ankle ligament injury, though the problem is not expected to cause a lengthy absence.
Reflecting on United's pursuit of Baleba during the previous campaign, Brighton owner Tony Bloom said: "There was interest from Manchester United, and we said that he wasn't available this summer and they went away. So we've had many bigger sagas in the past. But Carlos Baleba, his improvement has been immense. Massively important player to this football club, and just delighted that he's with us for this season."
