Liverpool have fewer than two weeks remaining until the summer transfer window closes. The Premier League heavyweights begin their 2026/27 campaign against Newcastle United on Sunday. Andoni Iraola's first starting XI as Liverpool manager in the league is unlikely to differ significantly from Arne Slot's last, considering the Spaniard has signed only Victor Munoz and Ronald Araujo this summer.

But some more squad changes might be completed in the window's closing weeks, with a £70 million deal still on the cards. Meanwhile, an agreement on a separate transfer has just been struck. Express Sport brings you the latest transfer news emerging from Anfield...

Cody Gakpo has been linked with a switch to Tottenham throughout much of the summer. A deal to offload the Dutchman is understood to be a non-starter unless the Reds can bring in two attackers.

Certain reports have valued Gakpo at £70m, with Spurs manager Roberto De Zerbi eager to strengthen his left-wing options by capturing the 27-year-old.

Despite recent speculation questioning whether such a transfer could be finalised late in the window, Fabrizio Romano has maintained that the prospective deal remains highly realistic.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano stated that Spurs continue in discussions for the winger and that agreeing personal terms wouldn't pose a problem, as Gakpo is receptive to the move.

But any move requires Liverpool to first line up some attackers to replace him, with PSG's Bradley Barcola one of them.

Curtis Jones' 16-year association with Liverpool appears to be drawing to a close. The Reds have struck a £30m deal with Inter Milan for the midfielder.

Personal terms have already been settled between Jones and the Serie A champions, with a medical now being arranged. Speculation linking the player with the Italian club first surfaced on deadline day in January of this year.

Inter rekindled their pursuit of the 25-year-old this summer, having previously been unable to reach an agreement on a fee with Liverpool. The Italian giants saw two offers for the England international rejected, the most recent a £21.7m bid in June.

Should Jones depart Merseyside, he would do so having made 228 appearances for the Reds, netting 22 goals and contributing 25 assists. He has claimed six major honours at the club, among them two Premier League titles.

But the academy graduate grew frustrated with being a back-up midfielder and not having his contract extended while team-mates, whose deals did not expire until after his, had theirs renewed and their wages improved.
