Since BlueCo’s purchase of Strasbourg, Chelsea have signed quite a few players from the French side.
It is to be expected, with Chelsea and Strasbourg now being sister clubs. This summer, Blues supporters have seen both Emmanuel Emegha and Valentin Barco arrive from France.
In the past, Chelsea have also signed Mamadou Sarr from Strasbourg, but his future is now in serious doubt.
Chelsea have decided to sell Mamadou Sarr
Chelsea only bought Sarr last year, but they already look prepared to sell the defender.
While it was thought that the Club World Cup winners were only looking to loan out Sarr, journalist Sacha Tavolieri has claimed on X that they are now ready to offload the 20-year-old permanently.
Chelsea need to trim down their list of centre-back options. Xabi Alonso has discussed the number of centre-halves he wants, with the Spaniard not keen on having more than five.

At present, Chelsea have Levi Colwill, Maxence Lacroix, Wesley Fofana, Jorrel Hato, Tosin Adarabioyo, Josh Acheampong, Aaron Anselmino, Benoit Badiashile, Axel Disasi and Sarr all on their books.
Hato is expected to play at left-back this season, while Badiashile is set to join Napoli on loan. However, that list is still too big and will undoubtedly be significantly trimmed between now and the end of the transfer window.

Chelsea won’t regret Mamadou Sarr sale
Sarr is likely to be a casualty of Chelsea’s desire to trim down their list of centre-back options, but they will not be losing sleep over it.
The Senegal international has potential, but the truth is he was disappointing in the few appearances he made last season.
Chelsea needlessly recalled Sarr from his loan at Strasbourg in the January transfer window, halting his development and throwing him in at the deep end, which had dire consequences.
He made a costly mistake at the beginning of Chelsea’s second-leg tie against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League round of 16. Sarr never quite recovered from that, and when you watch him play, he still looks very raw in general.
That rawness is to be expected for a player of his age, yet Hato and Acheampong, who are also 20, do not look anywhere near as raw as the former Strasbourg man.
Because of the duo and the other centre-back options that Chelsea have, the club will have no regrets about moving Sarr on this summer.
