Patrick Berg
Patrick Berg was one of Norway’s best players at the 2026 World Cup, and many expected him to move to a stronger league this summer, as he appears to have outgrown the Norwegian Eliteserien.
Berg is the midfield lynchpin at Bodo/Glimt and showed his quality during their run in the Champions League last season. His performances demonstrated that he has the pedigree to compete successfully against strong opponents, increasing expectations that he could secure a move abroad.
Premier League Interest Has Gone Quiet
After the World Cup, several clubs were linked with a move for Berg, including Everton and Leeds United, as they looked to add him to their Premier League squads. The interest appeared genuine, particularly after his performances on the international stage.
However, Berg has since returned to playing for Bodo/Glimt, with the Norwegian season still underway. With only a few days remaining in the transfer window, neither Premier League club has stepped up its interest in signing him, leaving his future uncertain.
According to Nettavisen, there is currently quietness from both teams regarding Berg, which has come as a surprise because they appeared to have a genuine interest in signing him after following his performances at the World Cup.
The lack of movement means Berg could remain with Bodo/Glimt beyond the current transfer window. The midfielder has always insisted that he is happy at the Norwegian club, but that does not necessarily mean he would reject an opportunity to join a bigger team.
Berg Could Still Welcome New Challenge
Berg could be ready for a new challenge after his spell at Lens in 2022. A move to the Premier League would provide him with another opportunity to test himself at a higher level and potentially continue the progress he has made with Bodo/Glimt.
For now, however, there appears to be no significant development from Everton or Leeds United. With the transfer window approaching its conclusion, Berg may have to continue his career in Norway unless one of his admirers decides to act.
His performances for Norway and Bodo/Glimt have already shown that he can compete against quality opposition. If a Premier League move does not materialise this summer, his reputation could continue to grow, potentially creating further opportunities in the future.
