West Ham right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka “effectively downed tools” following the club’s relegation to the Championship, according to insider ExWHUEmployee.
Providing an update on the former Manchester United player’s move to Aston Villa on The West Ham Way Patreon (quotes via their website), Ex said:
“Aaron Wan-Bissaka is on the verge of signing for Aston Villa. The terms of the deal are a loan with an obligation to buy. Wan-Bissaka has effectively downed tools since our relegation, and this is a good move for both parties. The deal is a loan with an obligation if certain clauses are met.”
The claim about Wan-Bissaka’s attitude did not go down well with supporters on X:
Man Utd attitude. He never wanted to play for us just liked being back in London. We need to stop begging players to join.

There's a decent player in there but held back by attitude and effort.

Enjoy sitting on the bench for most of the season.

Will the club get their money back on Wan-Bissaka?
The details of Aston Villa’s purchase clause have not been made public, but reports suggest that the Hammers were hoping to raise £20m to £25m from the player’s exit.
Wan-Bissaka arrived at the London Stadium in a deal worth £15m two years ago, so there is a chance that a profit will be made on him IF the loan turns into a permanent move. There was reportedly competition from Newcastle, Everton and Fulham, so that could have potentially bumped up the price a bit.

West Ham are unlikely to replace him
It seems as if Joel Veltman and Kyle Walker-Peters will be the club’s two main options on the right-hand side of defence, so fans expecting a new addition following Wan-Bissaka’s departure may be left disappointed.
The Irons have, though, confirmed their latest signing. Joel Piroe has arrived from Leeds on an initial loan. There is reportedly an option to buy for £8m.
