Martin Odegaard sends strong message after Cardiff win
The Gunners kicked off their season on Sunday by crushing Manchester City in the Community Shield in Cardiff. Arsenal won the match with a 3-0 scoreline. The match started with a rapid opening goal from Riccardo Calafiori after only 24 seconds.
Kai Havertz later doubled the lead before half-time. Martin Odegaard then scored the final goal shortly after the break. With this victory the Premier League winners have claimed their first title this season. Furthermore, the Gunners have now lifted the trophy 18 times, the 2nd highest in English football history. The club won this title last time in 2023.
As reported by GOAL, after lifting the trophy, Odegaard spoke about the strong desire running through the squad. He stated: “When you get a taste of how nice it is, you want to do it again. We want to win everything.” It shows that the players have not lost their drive for success after winning the league title four months ago. Instead, they are aiming for a complete sweep of trophies this season.

Martin Odegaard finds his spark again after injury-hit season
The Gunners captain has returned stronger after a number of physical knocks last term. As reported by The Independent, Odegaard had a huge battle with knee, shoulder and muscle problems last season. These setbacks limited him to just 16 league starts. He was out of many key fixtures, including the EFL Cup final loss to Man City.
However, he used that frustration as a driving force. His past struggles have given him extra fuel for the new campaign. Mikel Arteta has also praised his renewed drive. The manager noted that the skipper has a special fire in his belly to prove his quality to the world. This was evident during his exceptional man-of-the-match display in Cardiff.
The captain was flawless, completing 95% of his passes, hitting 55 of 58. Moreover, he completed all 3 of his dribbles, won 9 recoveries, and won 5 duels. To score his goal, he took a fake shot which left the opposing keeper on the ground. This goal broke a 20-match official goal drought dating back to last December.

Bruno Guimaraes gives Arsenal more midfield strength
Arsenal’s improved squad depth is already making a huge impact. New signing Bruno Guimaraes made his first start for the club in the match. The midfielder arrived after a high-profile transfer from Newcastle. Odegaard praised his new teammate, calling him a natural fit.
As reported by The Guardian, he stated: “Since the first day he came in, it has been such a natural thing.” The captain praised the Brazilian’s fighting spirit and ability to win the ball. He also highlighted his composure and skill in possession. The pairing is already doing well.
This midfield progress gives the manager many elite options in the centre of the pitch. Myles Lewis-Skelly also put in a brilliant display, which allowed Declan Rice to start on the bench. This depth ensures that the squad remains versatile. The players can adapt their style to create problems for any opponent they face. The fans are very hopeful about this season’s potential.
