Conversations are ongoing as Arsenal scour the transfer market for a new winger for Mikel Arteta, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Premier League champions have been active in the summer window ahead of the 2026/27 season with four transfer deals already finalised ahead of Friday's league opener at home to Coventry City.
Firstly, signing Piero Hincapie on a permanent transfer from Bayer Leverkusen after such a successful loan spell last term, the Gunners later added goalkeeper Illan Meslier on a free following his Leeds United exit.
Boosting their wing options with the addition of Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge, Arsenal then finally secured the signing of Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United in a £75m transfer after so much talk speculation over the course of the summer regarding a transfer for the Brazilian.
Arsenal are not done in the market just yet, however, as Arteta looks to strengthen his squad even further as they bid to retain their league title and also get their hands on the Champions League trophy for the first time.
Following the addition of Tzolis, who has caught the eye during pre-season, another winger could follow before the September 1 transfer deadline.
Speaking on GIVEMESPORT's Market Madness podcast, transfer expert Romano provided an update on Arsenal's pursuit of a new winger and stated that he expects them to add to the position before the transfer window closes for business.
"With Mikel Arteta, so I think it's going to be busy for Arsenal," explained Romano.
For sure, Arsenal are looking at wingers, and that's the reality. They are trying to see if there is the right option on the market. So there are conversations ongoing.
"It's not an easy market for wingers, not just for Arsenal. Several clubs have been looking at that position, and it's not that easy. But Arsenal are exploring the market, and so I expect them to add also something in that position."

Arsenal really could do with bringing in a new left-winger to give Arteta further options ahead of another big season at the Emirates Stadium.

Bradley Barcola
The standout option for many after missing out on the signing of Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Jr.
Barcola will dominate the headlines in what remains of the transfer window with a Paris Saint-Germain exit a real possibility.
Interested clubs, such as Arsenal and Liverpool, will have to shell out big money for the French international, with the Champions League holders reportedly valuing him at £130m.
Kenan Yildiz
A cheaper alternative to Barcola would be Kenan Yildiz of Juventus.
The German-born Turkish international has really impressed for the Bianconeri since signing in the summer of 2022 following his Bayern Munich exit.
The 21-year-old, who finished last season with 11 goals and ten assists, operates from the left wing but he can also play as an attacking midfielder or second striker.
Nico Williams
Nico Williams still remains an Athletic Bilbao player despite plenty of speculation regarding a move to Arsenal in the past.
The Spain international is such an exciting left-winger and Arteta could no doubt extract even more from him and turn him into a Premier League superstar.
Williams did have three separate spells out injured last season but still managed to contribute for the LaLiga side with six goals and four assists in 25 appearances.
Iliman Ndiaye
Another option to consider for the left-wing berth is Everton ace Iliman Ndiaye.
The Senegal international has been heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia this summer but a Premier League stay now looks to be on the cards.
Ndiaye is an extremely skilful footballer and has caught the eye at Everton with his quality on the ball and tendency to find the net.
The 26-year-old's ability to play from either flank and also centrally would give Arteta options when it comes to his team.
