Southampton Fans Up In Arms About Spurs & Liverpool Legends Events At St Mary's

Saints supporters have been taking to social media to question why the club is hosting an event in the stadium to as the advertisement states "Relive one of the most iconic eras in Spurs history"
Whilst most Southampton supporters will appreciate that the club has to make use of it's opportunities to maximise revenue, the response on social media to the news that the club would be hosting an evening with Tottenham Hotspur legends has not gone down too well, especially since one of those legend's is Ex Southampton manager Glenn Hoddle who left the club in a very underhand way back in March 2001, to take the Spurs manager's job.
Hoddle will be joined by Steve Perryman, Chris Waddle & Ossie Ardiles to and I quote
"these legendary players share stories from their time at White Hart Lane, including unforgettable matches, dressing room moments and life at the top level of English football.
"The evening will feature a live on-stage interview, followed by an interval and a second-half audience Q&A, giving fans the chance to ask their own questions.
"With four iconic players on stage, this promises to be an unforgettable night for any Spurs supporter."
There you have it, it's summed up in that final paragraph, if Spurs fans want an unforgettable night, then have it in their own stadium.

It's bad enough that over the years they have poached Hoddle as a manager and the likes of Dean Richards & Victor Wanyama as players, not to mention their blatant theft of our club anthem "Oh when the Saints go marching in" and try to claim it as their own.
This event is due to take place in February 2027, but if you think that is bad enough then it gets worse, in May 2027 there will be a similar Liverpool Legends event at St Mary's with John Barnes and Jan Molby.
I expect the Portsmouth Legends event featuring Alan Knight & Alan Biley & the Middlesbrough Legends featuring Steve Gibson & his legal team & media stooge to be announced shortly
It is not cheap though, the only good thing about it is that at over £80 for a VIP ticket and £41.50 for a general admission ticket it is not cheap and prices out all but the more affluent of their respective fanbases.

I am not sure what the club is thinking here, it is a gross misunderstanding of football supporters from whoever has taken this booking, it is just not the done thing at any football club, can you imagine Anfield hosting Manchester United Legends or Sunderland having an evening with Alan Shearer & Peter Beardsley.
It just wouldn't happen, perhaps they felt that both club's are not really rivals of Saints, that may be true, but back in the 1980's, we played them regularly and the matches had an edge, we don't want either of the teams players coming back and rubbing it in so to speak.
I would hope that the club would have second thoughts on this, it is ill advised and an insult to Southampton supporters, it just highlights how these days football club employ people in positions when they really know nothing or have any affinity to this club and it's supporters.
