Martinelli’s inclusion on the shortlist could lead to a significant decision for the Brazil international, who has been the subject of transfer speculation during the summer.
Romano reports that Martinelli’s preference is to remain in Europe for the next chapter of his career. However, a proposal from Al Hilal could represent a major opportunity for the 25-year-old should the Saudi club decide to make him their priority option.

The Arsenal winger has been with the club since arriving from Ituano in 2019 and has established himself as an important member of the squad during his time in north London.
Martinelli has made more than 200 appearances for the Gunners and has played a key role in Arsenal’s recent success under Mikel Arteta, contributing goals and assists from the left side of the attack.
His future could nevertheless become one to watch as the transfer window approaches its conclusion, particularly if Al Hilal decide to push ahead with their interest.
Romano’s update indicates that there is currently no suggestion that Martinelli has decided to leave Arsenal, with the player’s preference instead being to continue his career in European football.
Much could therefore depend on Al Hilal’s next move and whether they choose Martinelli as their preferred target from the three players currently being considered.

For Arsenal, any potential approach would also raise an important question over whether the club would be prepared to entertain an offer for the winger.
Martinelli remains under contract at the Emirates and has been part of Arteta’s plans for several seasons, meaning any decision over his future would have major implications for Arsenal’s attacking options.
For now, Al Hilal are assessing their options, while Martinelli’s preference is understood to be staying in Europe. However, Romano’s revelation that the Brazilian is on their three-man shortlist means his situation is certainly one to monitor closely.
