Arsenal have won **17 of their last 18 Premier League matches against promoted teams** since the beginning of the 2023/24 season.
The only exception was a 2-2 draw against Sunderland last season.
At the Emirates, the record is even stronger.
Arteta’s side are unbeaten in their last **45 home league matches against promoted opposition**, winning 40 and drawing five. Opta says it is the longest such unbeaten run recorded by any team in Premier League history.
That adds another layer to an opener Arsenal are already expected to control.

The numbers consequently leave little doubt over who should dictate Friday’s contest.
There is also an individual landmark available to Arteta.
Victory would be his **150th as a Premier League manager**, achieved in his 248th match.
Only Pep Guardiola, José Mourinho, Jürgen Klopp and Sir Alex Ferguson have previously reached 150 victories in fewer than 250 Premier League games.
Arsenal have also won each of their previous three opening-day matches when beginning a season as reigning Premier League champions.
Yet Coventry provide one historical warning.
The clubs have met on the opening day once before, in 1993, when Mick Quinn scored a hat-trick in a 3-0 Coventry victory at Highbury.
A repeat would represent an enormous shock according to the current numbers.
